PayPunch is a Biometric Time Clock & Attendance tracking system that replaces the typical time clock used to track employee attendance.
Pros: Paypunch interfaces with biometric and other electronic attendance cards to record entry and exit times. Handprint and fingerprint reader devices as well as other card based solutions do not allow buddy punching, nor does it allow early punch in or unauthorized overtime. Paper time card based processing is eliminated entirely thereby the recurring costs involved with paper based processing are saved.
With the attendance data integrated with payroll & HR systems it makes for accurate and faster processing of payroll. Thus eliminating errors due to transcription mistakes in moving the time card data to payroll systems with older time card based processing.
User interface is straightforward and simple. Lets you create the companies to be handled in the system, their respective departments, employees their assignment to specific shifts and so on. Attendance reports generated by the system let the supervisor manage the attendance, overtime issue, absentees’ problems etc.
User interface is simple and easy to use, learning time on the application is insignificant too.
Cons: The application is based on Access database. Scaling to a large real life enterprise will be difficult. Besides, the performance is likely to suffer severely. It is not clear from the information available if database roll back feature is available while recording details of employees and other details. The application does not seem to do any automatic back up. Overall back up policy of the organization will have a bearing on the operation of the application.
Using this application in a truly large organization is going to have its own problems. Small and medium enterprises could certainly use this package to their advantage. Overall rating is 4 stars, given that it is applied to such organizations only.
